Good morning North Shore!
I hope that you are doing well, and that you are taking Jesus with you today!

Here is some numbers from our third annual Blessing of the Bike (er’s)! The ladies counted 460 registered riders, the guess is that there were between 325-375 bikes- I believe a thousand hot dogs were given away, all of the pig including the squeal was consumed, 700 bottles of water were consumed, but the best part was this… over 550 people heard the message of Jesus Christ- everything that we did was in the Name of Jesus!!!!

I had the opportunity to pray and love on all kinds of people- people looking for a community of faith where they can explore what God has for them- sounds like North Shore! I am just so excited to see what Jesus is going to do!!!! We have seen what He has already done!!!!

Don’t we serve an AWESOME GOD!!!

Last night we were serving in Detroit, and we started by singing “Jesus loves me”. When we were finished, a couple of people asked, “can we sing it again?”… I just want you to ponder that thought today- That Jesus loves you… What are you doing with that love?
How are you responding to the God of the universe with your life?

The team made turkey and the fixins at the shelter last night- a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner in May- What are you thankful for today?
We are such a blessed people! Even in the midst of the struggles of life.

13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, 14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
2 Cor 4:13-15

Everything we do, let us do to the Glory of God!
Loving God, loving people, being thankful in all we do!
See you Sunday, and don’t forget Mom!
Its Mother’s Day!
Chris

It wasn’t all that long ago, on a Friday morning in 1993. I played my best round of golf! Really- a good friend of mine had taken me to Riverview Highlands and we played the Gold and the Blue course and I came off with a 91.

Most probably don’ think that is all that great- but for me… all time best! That Friday something else happened, at 4:30 that afternoon, in front of the Honorable judge Stephen Rhodes, I married a spunky little blond by the name of Jan. We had no idea what was going to be in store for us! So much has happened in a short fifteen years that as I reflect, I can hardly believe. Jan had no idea that she would be a “Pastors” wife- Move to New Baltimore- Leave our house that we planned to retire in- Ride her own Harley- teach 25 kids on Sunday mornings- Sing in front of 150 people on Sunday- Just to name a few.

God has a way of changing the things that we think are going to be unchanging… Can we trust the direction that God wants our lives to take? In hindsight, every move that we made as a couple often had us wondering if it was right, when God entered our marriage it really changed where we were going and what was important. 1998 was really when Jan and I became one, I allowed Jesus to enter my life- all of it!

Funny how God has a way of completing us so that we can become complete in relationship. Jan, your a good woman, allowing God to have His way with us sure hasn’t been easy, and your faith and trust- and support of North Shore and even me….WOW. I love you Jan!

God is always up to something- He messing with you today?

What a couple of days we have put in at North Shore- Saturday was just a blast (very tiring) as a bunch of North Shore guys gave up a beautiful sunny day to serve the community that God has called us to! Channing,Tom,Greg, and Dave beat-up Richard’s house and put a great big dent in the process of restoring the burnt dwelling into a home. As they were hard at work I took John, Mike and Bud to the warehouse to empty a trailer, arrange the warehouse (it is stuffed full) and distrubute appliances, furniture, and household goods to three homes…

I must appologize to the spouses in the delay of the return of their husbands- sorry ladies but we found ourselves in a serving frenzy! We had to “get-ur-done!” Fella’s…….YOU ROCK!!!!

Yesterday turned into another “labor of love” day. We couldn’t waste the left over breakfast so some guys gathered and we attempted to finish the task at hand! Tom and I then emptied the trailer, re-rearranged the warehouse ( to accept the new load of stuff, thanks ScooterSue!) and then helped Maurice pour some concrete at the FOP Lodge. The Lodge is undergoing some renovations that are looking real good! We ended up working on some vehicles, removing loads of scrap, and fixing trailer tires… a busy day in the Kingdom!

Thanks Tom, hope you are resting at work- those North Shore day off’s can kill ya!!!!

The scriptures have so much to say about the things that we do for the kingdom. We are all at work doing something for someone, and ultimately all our ability to work comes from the hand of God. Paul writes-

1 Cor 15:58
Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

What we do, we need to do for the Glory of God, no matter what it is! If you are a waitress, you serve as if you were serving the Lord, a nurse, you care as if you are serving the Lord…

You get my drift!

Meatloaf and Donna Allen both have had surgery this week- They are both doing great, the only trouble that I see will be keeping them down long enough to heal! Jesus is so good!

Have a great day, and love someone just because!

Chris

Well Janine and I sat at the feet of a friend of mine Dean who owns the company “Got WWW?” and started a journey in web maintenance. So if you find some mess and clutter, please bear with us!!!!

It is so nice to drive with the windows down and enjoy this great weather, would rather be on the bike but duty calls! I am getting phone calls from all over the place about the Blessing on the 4th - the excitement is starting to rise just like the outside temperature!

The band is starting to gather in my basement and as I type are working on “Unchain my Heart” by Joe Cocker for the opening song on Sunday. OUR HOUSE BAND ROCKS!!!!

So as the noise starts I will say goodnight…

Four days of exploring the plains of Kansas and we still did not find Dorothy or Toto. Instead, we found a state full of disasters and damaged hearts. However, along with the devastation, we were able to find hope and an exciting opportunity to see and learn how individuals, churches, and organizations are responding to these disaster sites, and how we, North Shore Church, can offer hope and healing to victims of past and future disaster by shining the love of Christ and becoming involved in “first response disaster relief.”

Our journey in Kansas consisted of exploring four different disaster sites, talking with and learning from a variety of different organizations that have responded to these disaster, and visiting a couple of friends and ice cream shops along the way. Our first stop was the little town of Osawatomie, which was hit by the flooding of two rivers on July 1st. We spent the morning driving around town, talking with some victims at a local diner, visiting a local church whose entire second floor has became a food pantry to assist flood victims, and learning from FEMA, the local fire station, salvation army, and a couple of other organizations about first response disaster relief. After learning as much as possible there, we headed south towards the Oklahoma border where we encountered two more towns, Coffeyville and Independence, which were also victims of the July 1st flood. However along with the flood waters, Coffeyville was covered with a layer of crude oil that spilt as the water rose and destroyed a large majority of the town. Homes, cars, trees, and everything else in the path of the flood was marked with crude oil lines. It looked like a ghost town. Because of the type of devastation around Coffeyville and Independence, relief/recovery is at a stand still. However, we were about to talk a little with FEMA, American Red Cross, and a couple of organizations about their response to the flooding.

The next day, we traveled west across the state to Greensburg. Greensburg, a rural town of about 1600, was hit on May 4th by a devastating tornado. As you enter into the town, it is hard to image that there was anything there before. The court house, a few cement slabs, broken trees, and FEMA tents was all we could see. James Bond, the program coordinator of Kansas Tornado Agency (I think that was the name), graciously came and gave us a tour of the town and informed us on the first response that took place and the future rebuilding plans for this devastated community. Greensburg is moving from the relief stage into the recovery stage, so we were able to see and learn from a variety of different organizations, what they did, and what they are going to do. We learned about necessity of disaster relief organizations working together and partner with one another in order to adequately respond and rebuild a disaster site.

Over all the trip was an amazing experience where we learned a ton, grew together, and now we are back home and our heads are hurting as we processing through what we learned and where God is leading North Shore in this First Response stuff. God is doing some amazing stuff in many different areas at North Shore. It’s exciting! Continue to pray that as a community at North Shore that our eyes and our hearts would be open to where God is leading us. Also continue to keep the victims of the numerous disasters sites throughout our country in your prayers. Behind every crude stained home, smashed car, flooded business, and blown away home, is a soul, a child of God whose heart is also hurting.

“persecuted, but not abandon; struck down, but not destroyed” 2 Corinthians 4:9

Just starting my day with a thought that I want to share with you guys.

What is Jesus doing new in your heart? Is your heart being tugged in some direction that scares you just a little bit? Is your heart restless, and your Spirit wondering what is next in your life?

Allow God to speak to you this week. Take time to be quiet and listen…

Often we are scared to follow our heart, when it is probably the safest place to be.

God messin’ with ya? I hope so, and that is my prayer!

Rockin’ the world for Jesus together!

Chris
