WWC Hunter’s Retreat 2010: September 17th & 18th at the Wesleyan Woods Campground in Vassar, MI. The cost per person is $55 for a dorm room or $40 for a RV/tent site. There will be two 10 Target 3D courses, an archery coon shoot, a skeet shoot, muzzle loading range, 3 meals, an auction, and door prizes. There is a sign-up sheet on the table in the hallway.
Women’s Movie Night: Friday, September 24th at 7pm at the Community Cafe. The night will consist of fellowship, a potluck dinner & a movie. Bring a friend and a dish to share.
Serving Opportunities
District Haiti Trips: September 25 - Oct 3 and Oct 2 - Oct 10, our Wesleyan District will be doing trips with Global Partners to rebuild the Curtis Wesleyan Church in Haiti and install water filtration systems. The cost for these trips will be around $1000. The sign up deadline is September 8th. If you are interested in going on either trip, please contact Linda as soon as possible at 586-713-6326.
Back to School Time: We will be collecting backpack & school supplies for area children through Labor Day. Collection boxes are located at the Community Cafe & at the school during our Sunday morning gatherings.
Community Cafe
Volunteer Meeting: If yo are currently volunteering or interested in volunteering at the Cafe in the future, we are having a meeting by the s5tage in the auditorium directly following our services today. Please attend this meeting if you are or want to be a volunteer.
*** The jist is this: If we do not have real commitment for 2 people in the dining room and 2 people in the kitchen Monday thru Friday we will have to close the Cafe. If we change the hours to 10am to 4pm will that change your volunteering ability. Please contact Janine at 586-817-2556 if you are interested & did not attend this meeting, or if you think you can help at some point in the future or if the hours are changed it will make all the difference in your ability to help.
Feeding the Homeless
The Well(Gratiot, north of Hall Road): Monday, August 30th we are serving those in need within our own community. Come anytime between 3-8pm to help cook & serve.
My Brother’s Keeper: Tuesday, September 7th: We will be serving the homeless in downtown Detroit. Meet us at the Community Cafe by 5:30 pm.
Connections ~ Life is better Together
Celebrate Recovery: The group is open to anyone looking for support and freedom from hurts, hang-ups and habits. We meet Tuesday nights at 7:30 pm at the Community Cafe. Contact Deb for more details at 586-747-5054.
Weekly bible Study: Wednesday nights at 7pm at the Community Cafe.
