Did you ever have one of those real bittersweet days- good and bad all wrapped together? Monday was going to be a very special day, my wife was going to be home for the whole week… I was excited!

Our morning started well, my son woke up happy and I was allowing my wife a quiet time to sleep in (which quiet doesn’t happen very much in the Steinle house). Jon and I were hanging out, I was reading the scriptures, planning our week, all was good! Jon’s caregiver Andrea arrived and Jan and I left to run some errands. We had to go to the school (where the Church meets on Sunday) seems I had left my cell phone there. My phone was full of messages- we will talk about that later…

During our travels Jan’s back starts to really hurt, she thought that she might have a bladder infection. After a trip to our local pharmacy, over the counter meds in hand, we were headed home- its gets worse.

About an hour later Jan is in tears and we are on our way to urgent care (a vacation hot spot!) Three hours later its back home again.

Two hours later we are on our way to the Hospital- things were getting worse. I understand this one truth, I would much rather wear the extreme pain than watch a loved one suffer through it. I felt helpless. All I could do is pray, try to comfort, and wait. Looking back it went very quickly, Jan passed a kidney stone and all is well. As fast as it showed up- it was gone. What a day…

Now the other stuff, one of our errands was in regards to a message left on my phone. A friend of mine runs a warehouse and was going have to get rid of some old stock- mostly paper products, cleaning products, and mass quantities of plastic garbage bags- pallets of stuff. John wanted me to take a look at it and see if we could use it. Here is the chicken skin part- John did not know that we are leaving in a week to go to Iowa, a region destroyed by floods, and what do flood victims and volunteers need? Cleaning products! The site in Iowa will be all set for quite a while!

GOD IS GOOD! HE HAS A PLAN!

     What a blast following Jesus!
