Celebrate Recovery - Tuesday August 5th will be the first meeting for our Christ - centered recovery program.  The group is open to anyone looking for support and freedom from hurts, hang-ups, and habits.  We will meet at 7:30p.m. at the FOP Hall (33845 24 Mile Rd., Chesterfield).  For more information, contact Deb Shaw at 586-948-9969

Iowa Disaster Relief - the next team will head out on August 10th.  If you are interested in going, talk with Linda no later than August 6th.

This morning as I was reading I came across this thought written by john Wesley-

“We give God our heart when we not only seek but find happiness in him. This happiness undoubtedly begins when we we begin to know him by the teaching of his own Spirit; when it pleases the Father to reveal his Son in our hearts, so that we can humbly say, ‘my Lord and my God’…”

Jesus tells us that His words are-

John 6:63-64
The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. 64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe.”

Are you allowing the Word and the Spirit to teach you- and bring you into full life? Full happiness?

After a week of meetings and the hustle and bustle of a crazy schedule- it so good to just have breakfast with the men of North Shore and talk about life! We ate and laughed and dreamed together and just hung out. I challenged the guys with this one question, “Where are the men of God”. So often the Manly thing to do is allow the wife to spiritually train the children, and this sends a distinct message. Jesus isn’t manly. The way I read scripture- Jesus was a man’s man, but when he is taught from the knee of your mother- Jesus receives a very heavy feminine edge. I do not write this to discourage mom’s and grandma’s from teaching and sharing the Scriptures with their children. I simply write this to ask the question, “Where are the men of God”. I like to think that we are raising them up! Jesus made this claim…

Katrina north

The team rolled in at about 1am local time- We are in Waterloo, north of the major flood damage, east of the tornado damage. We are sending teams out to work, and will assess Cedar Rapids today. Looking at a site to open there soon.
